Written by Richard Montoya As Juan José feverishly studies for his U.S. citizenship exam, he becomes ensnared in a tumultuous, whirlwind journey through pivotal moments in American history. Last seen at the Playhouse in the hit show Zorro in Hell, Culture Clash returns with a provocative, irreverent comedy about our shared past, set against our trans-border landscape. American Night Community Partners American Night Special Events Commissioned by The Oregon Shakespeare Festival as part of American Revolutions: The United States History Cycle.

Culture Clash
Culture Clash was founded in 1984 by Richard Montoya, Ric Salinas and Herbert Siguenza. The group has become the country’s most popular Chicano/ Latino performance troupe, with work ranging from sketch comedy to an adaptation of Aristophanes, to the full length play Chavez Ravine. Culture Clash’s most notable productions include The Mission, Radio Mambo: Culture Clash Invades Miami, Bordertown, Senor Discretion Himself, Zorro in Hell and Water & Power. Additionally, Culture Clash is the recipient of numerous awards, commissions and grants, including a grant from the Rockefeller Foundation, the Latino Spirit Award, the Los Angeles Hispanic Media Award, among others..
